We are learning how to take care of our iPad
What do the learners already know about looking after a device
Watch the video and notice - what are the learners doing to care for their iPads? Think, pair, share.
Clarify expectations when taking and returning iPads to storage in your school’s context e.g.
Will learners be handling the lightening cables?
Which way up are devices stored for easy access when plugging in the lightening cable.
If someone is accessing the storage identify a spot where others will wait in line to avoid overcrowding
Identify opportunities for learners to model expectations described in the Kawa of Care e.g. when using your iPad, when moving your iPad
Revisit these routines frequently to enable learners to practise and connect with the actions/expectations in the Kawa of Care.

iPad Kawa of Care Slide Deck (below) - Recommend using publish to the web link. Share this link on your site so it opens full screen on the learners' ipad when tapped. See example below.
Can be adapted for classes that are not yet 1-1. Helpful to have some iPads for learners to explore the parts if possible e.g. 1 between 2.
Diagram can be projected or printed - files here
Know Your iPad - copy for demonstrating with labels
Familiarising learners with the different parts of the iPad.
Using the proper nouns to describe tools and encouraging learners to do the same.
Learners reference the diagram to draw and label their iPad, encouraging use of the correct vocab.
Take pictures of learners keeping their iPad safe. These can be useful for creating Explain Everything projects and sharing in the learning space, on the class blog and site.
